Why the NES

Here it is, the generic, "why I prefer the NES as opposed to other systems" article every webmaster has on his site. I mean come on, normal people out there must be thinking, "Jesus, why would this guy spend so much time designing and maintaining a website about a system almost twenty years old?" Well here's why.

I started collecting NES games simply because it was something to do. When I was a freshman in high school my family moved to a small hick town way out in the country. I lived like three miles away from my nearest neighbor. Not to sound like the everyday cliché, but I had absolutely no friends, and nothing to do all day. So I spent alot of time on the Internet, probably close to six or seven hours a day. Well one night around 4:00 am I was up searching yahoo for the worst websites on the Internet (I was really bored). The results brought up some website about wolves and I was looking through it and for some reason the guy who ran it had a link to some River City Ransom site (devine intervention???). So I clicked it. To tell you the truth I had never played RCR back then, but I had played alot of NES, so I found it interesting. After looking all through the RCR site, I started searching for other NES sites. That is when I found the best NES site to ever exist, Spazzoid's NES Stuff. I read every single page of this site. I started remembering all the good times I had playing NES, and it prompted me to dig mine out of the closet, and start playing again.

I had thirteen games when I started collecting. Most of them were just the crap that was too worthless to sell. I played the hell out of these thirteen games, until I could get my mom to give me a ride to the city to buy some more at Funcoland. This continued every week or two. I think I got about $10 a week for allowance back then, so I could usually buy three or four games at a time. This continued as I grew up. Over the years I have dropped in and out of collecting, but I still have quite a few NES games, and I still continue to play.
