Crash and the Boys: Street Challenge is one of the best games for the NES. This is one of the few games out there that allows four players to compete simultaniously using the multitap accesory. Four players plus rival schools makes it perfect for parties.
I heard about this game on an old NES site. The webmaster said it was one of his favorite games, and went on and on about it, so when I saw it at Funcoland, I bought it. I couldn't have been happier. At the time I had barely any NES games, and most of the ones I did have sucked, so I was really glad I finally had something good to play.
In this game Crash Cooney is Southside High's star athlete. He has just recently won the latest track meet, when rival school, Wahington High's star athlete Todd issues a challenge to him. This engages Crash's team vs. Todd's team and two others, in a street challenge, the likes of which you've never seen.
Instead of the usual, boring olympic type games, Crash and the Boys has events that are actually original and fun. What other game has rooftop jumping, fighting under water, and hammerthrow golf? This game isn't just the usual button masher either. It takes skill to master Crash and the Boys. There is a certian rhythm to it that has to be learned to succeed.
Not only is the gameplay awesome, but the graphics are great to. The anime style sprites of Crash and the Boys are probably some of the best I'vee seen on the NES. It's the perfect package. Crash and the Boys is truely one of the best NES games ever made.
