The Super Mario Bros. Super Show was the highlight of the day for everyone in my first grade class. The show, by todays standards, is pretty lame, but its the memories that count. My friends and I would all sit at the lunch table and discuss the previous day's episode while I pulled sandwhiches out of my Mario lunchbox. I can also think back to all those Fridays we would spend talking about what we thought would happen to Link that day.
This section is in general, a shrine to the craziest Nintendo show to ever come into my TV everyday.

At the beginning of each cartoon, two actors would portray Mario (Captain Lou Albano) and Luigi (Danny Wells). Even at seven years old I found these two idiots to be a waste of time. They never really did anything funny. Somehow Mario and Luigi (actor wise) got the likes of Magic Johnson, Vanna White, Eve Plumb (Jan Brady), and other elite super stars to appear in their 3 minutes of the show.
The Mario cartoons were pretty cool. They ussualy were way off the plots of the games. Goombas, Troopas, Fry Guy, Koopa, they were all there, but they played waaay different roles. In one episode, Mario and Luigi enter a bike race to save Toad from Fry Guy. They have to race just about every character from Super Mario Bros 2, on bikes! Now that is original.
My school used to sell them through Scholastic. The funny thing was though, every time I ordered a tape, it would come the day after I saw the episode on TV. This happened three times! CONSPIRACY!
The reviews are based on a scale from 1% to 100%. I will review the live action and the cartoon in each tape seperatly.
I bought this tape through Scholastic back in 1989 or 1990.
Live action
The real life plot is that Mario and Luigi have entered a contest that they know they will win.
They don't know what they will when though. They decided toh ire a fortune teller.
The fortune teller comes over and tells a few lame jokes. After the cartoon a rock star comes shooting into the
basement. Mario and Luigi chat with him for awhile then help him escape.
Like I said before, all of these openings were pretty stupid so this one isn't any worse than the others.

Cartoon
In the cartoon, Koopa has eaten a special sushi and has grown hundreds of feet, and it is up to Mario to stop him before he wrecks the entire city.
This episode is entertaining. I have had it for over a decade and I still watch it every now and then.

Super Mario Bros. 3
I bought this at a gas station May 2002
Thats right, for some reason this Chevron station I went to had a bunch of old tapes for sale for like $5 each and this one was among them. A good find I think. Sorry about that nasty lens flair.
On to the review. Toad, the princess, and the Mario brothers are in frog suits, which is pretty cool, fighting koopa, when Mario gets turned to stone and can't swim. The group seeks refuge in some underwater city where there is oxygen. Once they get there, this ugly mermaid falls in love with mario because she believes he is a frog. Instead of just leaving like anyone else would do, Mario decides that he is now afraid to swim. Later on Koopa attacks and they have to defend the city from him. BOOOOOOOOOOORING. The only thing cool at all about this episode was that they were in the frog suits for like 2 minutes. This episode sucks. Of course, I wasn't expecting it to be The Godfather, but a little entertainment isn't too much to ask for, is it?

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show
The Great BMX Race
1989
I also bought this tape through Scholastic.
Live action
The Mario brother's mother comes over and they have to clean up the basement.
The mother is just Captain Lou dressed in drag. After she leaves they mess up the house again and their ant (Danny Wells in drag)
comes over. Pretty damn retarted.

Cartoon
The Mario brothers enter a BMX race to raise the money Toad owes Fry guy.
Little to their knowledge Koopa's cronies are also in the race. The Mario brother must
overcome Koopa's dirty tricks and win the race. I really like this episode; it has always been my favorite.
It features alot of Super Mario Bros. 2 characters, and is just really uniuqe, to put it bluntly.
