Zoda's Revenge: Startropics 2 is hands down the best game ever released on the NES. What makes it so great you ask? This game has everything! Good control, mad replay factor, humor, challenge, you name it! Even the graphics are pretty great for a NES title. Hell, they could pass for early 3rd party SNES graphics.
A few months have passed since Mike's adventure in the islands It's Fall now and he has started his junior year at high school. His uncle, Doctor J, is back in Seattle and hard at work decoding a cipher that was found in the remains of the Argonian's escape pod. However, he's not having much luck until one day when Mike is contacted by Mica through telepathy. She tells him she had a strange dream where her father, King Hirocon, relaying a strange message. Mike rushes to tell his uncle about his encounter with Mica and Doctor J figures out that the dream was a message to reverse the cipher. With the help of a book called the "Oxford Wonder Words" Mike and Doctor J are able to read the cipher, but Mike makes the mistake of reading outloud and he soon finds himself thrown into another world.
This game isn't quite perfect. Although the control is miles ahead of the first Startropics, it can still be a little tricky at time to excute jumps without dying. Another thing that pissed me off was when you die you often comeback with almost no life left, making it very hard to stay alive.
Bottomline: This game owns. Anyone who calls themselves a NES fan should already have it, and have already beaten it.
